Hudson Woods

A multi-plot property in the Catskills of New York is being developed as a community of private residences and LIA was contracted to provide structural consultation for each of the home types. Wood was the chosen material both for economy and a harmony with the surrounding natural landscape. Collaboration with the architect led to a collar tied truss roof system in order to raise ceiling lines and add to the interior aesthetic. Other highlights include open floor plans for maximum flexibility of the spaces and large cantilevered deck and glazing areas despite thin structural lines. The fully glazed end wall proved particularly challenging due to lateral design considerations of the two-story space within. The first house is represented in the photographs and more are to come in the futre.
